HOUSE L
Rome

The apartment on the piano nobile of a 19th century palace in the historic centre of Rome, was composed of single spaces delimited by thick bearing walls, connecting with each other through small openings that made the space labyrinthic, preventing the harnessing of spatial importance and dimming the brightness of the rooms. The new distribution is based on Feng Shui, China’s ancient Taoist geomatic art. A vestibule that works like a filter between the outside and the inside, the demolition of many partitions, and the creation of new connections between the various white rooms, refined with precious materials, enable a re-reading of the space, creating light flooded rooms, which thanks to the palace’s location on one of the seven hills of Rome, conjure scenarios that change with the seasons.
